Susan Hartsfield earned her Nurse Practitioner/ Master’s of Nursing Degree in Southern Florida at FIU (Florida International University) in the 1980’s. She is also an active Sierra Club environmentalist. Susan is ready to explain the unusual combination is not really all that unusual. Though she shares the typical descriptors with her audiences of daughter, sister, and mother it is the ‘enviro nurse’ that peaks interest.
Linking a professional health career to environmental protection goes hand in hand. Staying healthy and enjoying the environment spill over to personal hobbies of kayaking and biking too.
Helping folks understand health issues and the shared responsibility for wellness is a never-ending job. Reality has proven Susan claims, that maintaining health is an uphill battle in the presence of polluted air, toxic land, and contaminated food and water.
